Creating a Strong Online Presence for Marketing Success

Creating a Strong Online Presence for Marketing Success

According to Google, 97% of consumers use the web to search for local businesses – and if the vast majority of your potential customers are online, you should be, too. Having a strong online presence is a crucial component of your marketing strategy, no matter what size your business is or what industry it belongs to.

An online presence is important for outbound marketing because it reinforces your brand and what you offer to your target market. Once you’ve communicated with your audience, you’ll need to have a web presence that helps portray why your product or service is so great – because that’s the next stop for the majority of your potential customers.

It’s also vital for inbound marketing, because quality online content will help attract customers even if they haven’t heard of your brand.

So here are three of the first things you need to look at when building your online marketing efforts.

1. Your website

All businesses, no matter how small, should have a website. It can be extremely basic, but it should contain the fundamental information customers – both existing and potential – need. For example, one frustration I encounter far too often is restaurants that don’t have a website with a current menu, opening hours, location and contact information. I know I’m not alone in that if I can’t find these details, I’m less likely to visit the restaurant – but there’s no reason a business should lose potential customers over something that’s so easy to remedy and costs very little.

A basic website is pretty easy to set up using an application like WordPress. WordPress is a free blogging tool and content management system that gives users the option to pay a little more for the premium version. If it’s relevant to your business, you can even add an online shop – after all, in 2013, 70 percent of consumers preferred to do their retail shopping online.

If you’re not sure where to start, there’s a great guide to WordPress for small businesses on Social Media today. It’s easy to understand and runs through the factors you need to consider and steps you need to take when setting up your small business website.

If you’re starting from scratch and not sure what your website should include, survey your existing customers. Whether you send out an email asking for their input, or mention it casually while making their coffee, it’s the best way to get the insight you need – people love to be involved and share their opinions.

2. Search engine optimization

Once you have a website, it’s vital that it can actually be found by search engines. After all, 89 percent of consumers use search engines to research a product, service or business before making a decision. To take advantage of this, you need to make sure to look at search engine optimization (SEO) for your website.

In case you’re not completely sure what SEO means, how it works, or why it’s important, here’s a quick rundown:

  • What: The purpose of SEO is to make it easy for search engines to find your website and list it in their ‘organic’ (as opposed to ‘paid’) results.
  • Why: People tend to trust search engines, so websites that appear high in results pages are more likely to receive traffic.
  • How: Using search-engine friendly methods to improve your website.
  • Who: Everyone – anyone who has information that people want to find on the internet should be using SEO techniques.
  • When: All the time – SEO is an ongoing process. It’s important to monitor the information on your website and make sure it’s current and correct. Search engines also love new content, which is why starting a blog can do wonders for your SEO.
  • Where: Major search engines include Google, Yahoo and Bing. They connect people all over the world to the content they desire, from products to services to information.

The Beginner’s Guide to SEO by Moz and Google’s Search Engine Optimization Starter Guideboth give a fantastic overview of the basics and will help you optimize your website.

3. Social media

Social media is an important part of your online presence that improves your chances of generating additional revenue and building customer loyalty. It allows customers, potential customers and other interested parties to engage easily via a channel that plays an important role in their everyday lives.

Although not every social media channel will be relevant to each business, it’s definitely worth looking into your options. For example, Facebook and Twitter will serve a purpose for almost any business – it’s a great place to post news, tips, photos and videos and ask and answer questions.

In addition to Facebook and Twitter, you might find Instagram, Google+, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, Tumblr, FourSquare helpful. Make sure to research available channels and find out if they will work for you. Instagram, for example, is a photo-sharing network, so it works wonderfully for businesses selling ‘beautiful’ products such as jewelry, food or housewares. It’s important to consider your target demographic – Instagram has around 130–150 million users, over two-thirds of which are women between the ages of 18 and 35. With Instagram, you’ll also need to keep a smartphone handy to properly access your account and engage with your audience.

Once you’ve decided which social media channels to use, get a clear idea of the kind of content you can share. The more compelling and engaging your material is, the more likely your followers will like, comment and share your posts. Engagement is key to promoting your brand – not only will it make you more appealing to existing customers, the more positive social activity that goes on, the higher the chance is that their friends will be exposed to your brand and intrigued by what you have to offer.

When they do this, they’re engaging with your brand and their networks (friends, family, colleagues) are seeing that engagement and may be prompted to check you out for their own needs.

6 Reasons Why a Website is Important for your Business

6 Reasons Why a Website is Important for your Business

A simple question, What is a website? In its bare form, a website is a single domain that consists of different web pages. We should all know that by now, but surprisingly what we don’t all know, is the benefits a website can provide for your business and its shocking to witness how many business don’t actually have a website or online presence!

If you have a business and don’t have a website, you are losing out on great opportunities for your business. A website itself can be used to accomplish many different marketing strategies to help your business grow.

As a business owner, you need to know where your consumers are. But what if consumers know your business and what you can offer, but they can’t reach you? That is one of the risks you take by not having a website for your business.

What are some other benefits of having a business website?

Cost Effective
You know exactly how much your website is going to cost you and it’s ongoings – a brick and mortar store, on the other hand, is susceptible to many out of the ordinary occurrences which could blow out the costs such as leaving the lights on, theft, damage, extra staff etc.

A strategically developed website and online presence solution provides tremendous benefits and costing outlines.

Accessible around the clock
Your website and social media accounts are accessible 24/7/365. Imagine that you want to buy from a store. You put in all the effort required to go to the store, but when you get there, it’s closed. We all know how irate we feel in that situation. You’ll think twice about going back given the bad taste its left (ok might have been your fault for not checking but hey, this is proving the point here!). You will just find another store that is more easily accessible.

Since your website is operational around the clock, from the convenience of the local coffee shop, their couch or their bed, your customers and clients can easily access your website and services.

Convenient
What is more convenient: driving outside to look for different stores that are available to shop in, or sitting in the comfort of your own home and shopping for the products you’re looking for? Pretty obvious answer, unless you like aimlessly driving around. Smart businesses realise this and thus have their own website housing their products and services so that potential customers can browse online for the products they want to purchase.

Credibility
By building a website you are giving your business the opportunity to tell consumers why they should trust you and the testimonials and facts to back up those opportunities. Believe it or not, most people will search the internet for a product or service before the purchase to check the credibility first. When you provide good service or product, positive word-of-mouth about your business is likely to spread. Which in turn, delivers more repeat and new business.

People tend to trust a business after they have done business with it. Using your website, you can continuously serve consumers online and increase your credibility as a business owner.

Sales
Without sales, or selling more than you spend, your business is doomed. By having an online presence you allow for the sale of your products or services around the clock to whoever whenever with no or hardly any limitations; Unless you run out of stock or overworked, but that’s a good problem to have right! Giving your business the online presence it deserves is crucial to your brand and accountants smile.

In short, being visible worldwide means you are very likely to gain more customers. The more customers and visitors you have, the more sales you will generate. The more sales you generate the happier you and your shareholders will be!

 Video Marketing

Video Marketing has already proved to be the best marketing method for 2018 and it has been expected that by 2020, videos will grab 80% of the total internet traffic.

Most of the marketing people are crushing on video marketing and getting outstanding results. But it is not only video marketing alone that is responsible for the upshot but the creative mind and ideas along with video marketing are the main cause.

To explore the minds behind successful video marketing campaigns, Entrepreneur Media interviewed three Digital Marketing Professionals for the best industry-related tips.

The first person we spoke to was Rahul Singh, the founder and CEO and founder of The Publicity Dude, a leading Media and PR company that helps entrepreneurs and startups to get more media exposure.

Singh believes that today’s market is filled with people who are hungry for everything new and rich and so videos as a promotional strategy can turn out to be a superlative tool. “If you are still running in the race with posters and twitter updates, you are not really feeding your audience,” he said.

Bonding should be the Priority

When you create something that people could relate themselves to, they start to develop an emotional bond with you. This bond doesn’t only allow them to trust you but also helps in increasing likes, shares and hence sales. “Make something that strikes the audience right on their chords. Relatable Content wins the race,” he said.

First Impression Still Works

People still wish to watch what creates a sense of curiosity. Your titles and descriptions are the first impressions that someone would ever notice. You need to be specific about what idea are you inserting in your viewer’s mind through your titles and description. “Descriptions and titles are something that sticks. Your viewer would always be interested in knowing what they are going to invest their time on, ” he said.

The second professional that Entrepreneur India consulted was Narendra Singh Rathore, the founder of Digitalize Smartly and Content & Editing Solution Pvt. Ltd.

According to Rathore, just creating and uploading great videos won’t work unless you take care of the technical aspects also for ranking higher on search engines.

Deciding the Objective First

Your objective can be anything like getting more people to your landing page or boosting your personal brand or increasing your sales, whatever it is you need to be specific about the Call to Action. “You need to add the call to action in the first 20 seconds of your video and in the last 20 seconds of your video to double your click-through-rate,” he said.

Attaching Video Marketing with Content Marketing

Now that Video Marketing is already it’s peak, more and more people are indulging themselves in the industry and so the competition is increasing like never before. To participate and win the race, you need to be more creative than the people around you. “Write mini-blog posts for your videos, these kinds of descriptions will help your audience understand better about your video,” he says.

he third and the last expert that we talked to was Jagrit Gupta, Gupta is a serial entrepreneur and has co-founded several startups like Eyebridge Soft Solutions, 78mm Adventures and Subha e-Learning Inc.

According to Gupta, videos have always been a very popular medium. From traditional TV ads of 90’s to today’s YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat and Vimeo, the video has become a staple of everyday lives. “Even one successful viral video can give your startup a big boost,” says Gupta.

Make your Video Mobile Optimized

After the Jio revolution, India has already become the second highest consumer of the Internet today and so people have turned their faces towards videos more than simple text-based information. “You must know that about 75%  of videos in India are watched on mobile devices. Also, 85% videos are watched without sound on Facebook. So, make impactful videos with cations,” he said.

Keep your Videos Short and Simple

Short videos work the best for social media. People are more likely to watch videos within 2 minutes while surfing on their social media feeds. “Keep your videos under 2 minutes and share them in all formats, YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, Instagram, etc,” he said.

With 217 million Indian users, Facebook to help businesses drive growth

Addressing the needs of marketers in the digital age, Facebook hosted “Discover Growth” in Mumbai on Wednesday.

The event brought together marketers and advertisers to discuss key strategies focused on growth marketing and how Facebook solutions can help businesses drive growth.

Today’s marketers are working in a complex environment with increasing consumer choice and fragmenting media environment.

With mobile becoming central to our lives, people are spending more and more time on mobile and consuming more content on their phones which has not only led to a very different and dynamic consumer purchase cycle but has also created an opportunity for businesses to find newer sources of growth.

“With over 217 million monthly active users in India – most of whom are active on mobile – Facebook is at the heart of a mobile-first shopping journey. We want to help all marketers and businesses drive revenue growth by tapping into the shift in consumer behavior towards mobile, and help them adopt practises to drive both penetration and loyalty,” said director India and South Asia Facebook, Sandeep Bhushan.

Attendees at the discussion gained an in-depth insight into Facebook’s mobile solutions that can help marketers grow and engage consumers at every step of the purchase journey.

The discussion provided insights into acquiring customers and generating intent, creative ad formats on Facebook, and measuring what matters to users on Facebook.

“FB in no time (within a period of 6 months) has become one of the key contributors to our business for orders from retargeting channels. It is heartening to note the level of ownership and spirit of partnership that has led to such effective and impactful campaign,” said Group CMO, MakeMyTrip.com and Goibibo.com, Saujanya Shrivastava.

“Partnering with Facebook on the launch campaign for Vodafone Supernet 4G helped us cut through the clutter immediately, build awareness with the right audience and achieve incremental reach over television. With the target audience leaning towards digital, Facebook delivered some of the highest impact across all media vehicles on driving salience and key brand messages,” said EVP – Brand Communications and Insights, Vodafone, Siddharth Banerjee.

Brands and businesses across industries in India are already taking advantage of Facebook’s full-funnel marketing solutions.

Brands like Lakme, Magnum have run impactful feed friendly short form creatives on Facebook and seen lifts in Purchase Intent. E-commerce and travel brands such as Jabong, Shopclues, MakeMyTrip have used dynamic ads to capitalize on intent and find interested customers.

With Facebook’s Lead ads, brands like Raymond and Mahindra have been able to drive offline sales, while others like GSK, Vodafone, Mondelez and Myntra have leveraged Facebook’s measurement solutions to measure outcomes that matter to them and refine their marketing spends.
